Hey, my name REALLY is Roy Ripper!

And even if you know me already, you probably don’t know this stuff...yet...

I started as a rookie in my first recruitment role in 1987.

I progressed from that junior, that rookie…

To a consultant, a senior consultant...

A manager…a business owner...

A trainer...a coach.

None of it was easy…

...a lot happened under each of those job titles!

🙂

I’m sure you already know, that there are days that go by working in this industry, when you question your sanity a little bit.

But I've got to say to you…

30+ years in...

And I'm still loving it.

I love the vibrancy, the energy, the personalities and the pace...

But let’s go back for a moment to a couple of those job titles shall we…?

I’ve been extremely fortunate to have had, and worked with, three of the most influential, successful and generous mentors in the recruitment industry…

Firstly, most of you will know James Caan of BBC’s ‘Dragon's Den’ fame.

(James had a very successful recruitment organisation, grew it, sold it, and now is the chairman of a private equity company.)

I set up and ran my first recruiting business with James, after being introduced to him and his wife Aisha in the early 1990’s.

That was a disaster…

...not because of him but because of me.

I will tell you why later...

Secondly, when I moved from recruitment business owner to trainer, I met another one of my generous mentors…

The late, great Tony Byrne.

If you've never experienced Tony, you've missed out on something.

Grab any of his DVDs or video products…

....brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

In my mind, probably the best, recruitment trainer, that ever lived.

Finally, my third mentor - Ann Swain.

For you guys that are based in the UK…

You'll know Ann.

Very familiar in our recruitment industry, a prominent speaker and has been around the recruitment industry even longer than I have in fact.

(She was one of my earliest mentors, and now the chairwoman of APSCO, the Association of Professional Staffing Companies.)

I was really blessed to have each of those mentors..

But let me tell you about that situation with my first business with James...

I was a recruiter, just like you probably where when you first started.

I was pretty good at it...

I knew how to make money.

I LOVED selling…

And I know WHY I was so naturally good at it…

I had grown up living on one of the most notorious estates in Brixton, South London in the 1970’s.

Learning to quickly talk my way out of trouble...

...was one of the first lessons I ever learned…

And perhaps one of the most valuable.

I knew how to make placements.

I could smell money and I could make money.

I knew exactly what to work on, what candidates to speak to, how to qualify...

Running a recruitment business, I don't need to tell you as a business owner…

Is a completely different ballgame.

So anyway, back to setting up my very first recruitment business...

I had gone through that typical thing that most recruitment business owners I meet start thinking...

..."Well I'm doing this for somebody else. I'm pretty good at what I do. I know, I'll start my own recruitment business."
ROY RIPPER

We presume…(I certainly did)...that just because I was a good recruiter…

I was going to be a great recruitment business owner.

Wrong.

It just doesn't work like that.

I was a recruiter.

Just because I was in a massive buzzing office in central London with a big leather executive swivel chair...

...a business card with the word ‘Director’ next to my name...

...and fancy stationery with a logo...

Didn’t mean I had a bloody clue what to do next!

I didn’t understand strategy, business planning, and what I should be doing to establish and grow a brand new business.

And I certainly didn’t understand how to hire and develop a team of recruiters to help grow my business.

The disasters I made hiring the wrong people…

...who just left six months later leaving me to start the process all over again…

Ughhhh 🙁

At the time I thought it was just another ‘business’ thing I wasn’t good at.

However, what I now know…

Is that bringing the best new people in...

...getting them producing activity and revenue asap...

..and holding onto the best performing ones

is THE biggest…

Most common..

(and most critical) challenge that senior leaders of all growing recruitment businesses face.

I know this because…

Thousands and thousands of directors like you have told me!

When I first changed my training business from inhouse training to online video training products and digital marketing for recruiters...

My world got bigger…

Instead of a smallish client base of 50+ UK based recruitment businesses…

My audience grew quickly to 10,000+ global recruitment business owners and entrepreneurs.

Image

My first email to them always asked one question…

“What is the #1 biggest challenge you face in your recruitment business right now?”

Without fail…

The answer for solopreneurs and 2-3 staff businesses is..

We need more clients and candidates!

But for those businesses with 7+ staff...who want to grow, it is always…

FINDING, RECRUITING and KEEPING good recruiters!!!

How about this for the mother of all ironies...

We seem to easily be able to source...

...‘impossible to find’

...‘rare skill set’

...‘high demand’

candidates  for our clients...

And get paid

(sometimes handsomely)

..for being able to do so.

However…

When it comes to identifying, attracting and recruiting for our own businesses -  the one ‘client’ that we (should) know better than any other...

...we struggle like amateurs!

WTF?? WHY IS THAT?!!?

🙂

Now…

Let me take you to the current day…

I feel like I am taking every tiny little thing I have learnt in my 30+ recruiting career…

...my knowledge of the global recruitment industry…

...my passion for digital marketing…

And delivering…

World-class recruitment training and coaching for recruiters to advance FASTER in every area of their recruitment career and their life.

What is my approach?

I have one single focus at the beginning..

To establish a relationship.

If you do this first…

You are able to create trust.

Business = Relationship between people.

Never forget that.

If you then add to that relationship...

Some HIGH-LEVEL RECRUITING STRATEGIES

And HIGH-PERFORMANCE TECHNIQUES...

And some BIG-BILLER magic…

Then that’s when I really start to see results with everyone I work with!

Recruiters that join the top 2-5% of high-performing recruiters worldwide...

And see every aspect of their career…

And their life...

ADVANCE.

Now let me show you how to do that ..
